Lavender Lime

Mother-in Law and Daughter-in-Law Share a Life and a Quilting Design Business in the south.

When I look at this square I find so many imperfections. I see several squares that don’t quite match up. I also see something I’m incredibly proud of. This block right here is the first sewing project I ever took on!

I have so many amazing women in my life past and present who I have looked up to because they are incredible sewers. I have beautiful quilts from my great grandmother, my grandmother and also from Kathy that I will forever cherish. The thought of being able to sew always seemed so overwhelming and something I thought I may never be able to learn how to do. That all changed one day when Kathy asked me to help her with a project for Market.

Now I will be the first one to tell you that I am FAR from a professional. But helping Kathy make those little 12 inch blocks reminded me that big things can happen if we just take a couple steps out of our comfort zone and try. After helping Kathy with those 12 inch squares I even took on a couple small projects for our little guy who is set to arrive in 2 weeks. I’ll post a picture below of the bib I sewed together.

These are all definitely baby steps but I hope to share with you all my sewing journey and hopefully over time my skills get better and better. I’d love to hear from each one of you what your first sewing project was.

My first little area to sew. I put it in our living room so I’d be close to my family while I sewed.
